Clickstop Charity Celebrates Successful Community Donation Drive

Organizers continue to accept new and gently-used essentials for area families.

Our mission is to offer a hand up to people in our community that are going through hardships. Contributions go directly to getting basic necessities to people who need them.

Boxes stacked up quickly, packed and overflowing with items all to help local families in need. That was the scene last month as Clickstop hosted its first donation drive for its newly created charity organization, Clickstop Cares.

Donors dropped-off gently-used clothing, housewares and toys during the community-wide event.

The organization stores items in a Clickstop-owned building on Bing Miller Lane in Urbana. That space, now known as Clickstop Cares, is not like a retail or thrift store. Instead, organizers collect items, then connect families with the essentials they need – all free of charge.

“Our mission is to offer a hand up to people in our community that are going through hardships,” Clickstop employee Ashley Rambo said. “Contributions go directly to getting basic necessities to people who need them.”

Members of the Clickstop Cares team want to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation for the generous donations made by members of the eastern Iowa community, and to the volunteers who spent hours sorting and stowing items.

“Our organization and the families we serve rely on community contributions,” Clickstop employee Loraine Kelty said. “We are so thankful for the people helping us grow Clickstop Cares so we can provide children with the things they need to fit in and thrive.”

It isn’t too late to help. Clickstop Cares will continue to accept donations, but will do so by appointment only. The program collects like-new clothing, household goods and appliances along with unopened personal care products, cleaning supplies and non-perishable food items. Monetary donations are also accepted and appreciated.

Clickstop Cares is applying to become a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, meaning donations will become tax deductible following that process.
