eMedCert Awards CE Credit for Online ACLS & PALS Certifications
Denver, CO (PRWEB) March 06, 2015 -- eMedCert has served healthcare providers worldwide by providing online certification and recertification courses in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Basic Life Support (BLS), and has procured and shared original content focused on career development in the rapidly evolving health care industry. Now, as a newly approved provider of continuing education per the California Board of Registered Nursing (CA BRN), eMedCert is awarding continuing education (CE) contact hours to participants who successfully complete any of the 100% Online ACLS and PALS Courses offered through its website at https://emedcert.com.
"Although it took longer than initially anticipated, we are excited to announce that CE credit now accompanies our courses and we are happy to show our customers that their voices have been heard,” Wilson Rapp, Co-Founder of eMedCert, said. Healthcare providers in many states are required to obtain a specified amount of continuing education (CE) credit in order to meet requirements for licensure. A common vehicle for obtaining this type of credit is through Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification or recertification courses. ACLS and PALS courses have been traditionally offered in a classroom environment – eMedCert offers a 100% online alternative to obtaining certification in ACLS and PALS, and as an approved provider of continuing education per the California Board of Registered Nursing (CA BRN), now awards CE contact hours through its website.
"The 100% online concept added a layer of complexity to satisfying the continuing education needs of our customers, as most sources of hands-on instruction courses are not actually approved standalone providers of continuing education, rather they are sponsored or accredited by an organization that is an approved provider of CE, such as the American Heart Association or Red Cross," Jon Becker, Co-Founder of eMedCert, said. "Now, not only do we have the ability to award CE credit for our online ACLS and PALS courses, but we can award credit by creating new, or sponsoring existing, activities."
eMedCert awards 4 CE contact hours for successfully completing its online ACLS or PALS Certification course(s) and 2 CE contact hours for successfully completing its online ACLS or PALS Recertification course(s). The CA BRN and State of California provide clear requirements that CE providers must meet in order maintain approval. Enduring material is not an option through the CA BRN, instead activities are designated as independent study and a specific amount of CE must be awarded. "The CA BRN is very clear in its regulations. The amount of CE we award is contingent upon the time it takes a participant to complete one of our courses. Due to the added convenience our courses provide, they take less time to complete compared to the 8 – 12 hours required of classroom-based instruction, which doesn't take into account the opportunity costs associated with transportation and missing work," Becker said.
eMedCert has taken all of the necessary steps in order to meet CA BRN requirements. One such step includes collecting completion time data from surveys and proprietary software in order to determine the proper amount of CE to award to participants. "Although costly, it is important to us that we provide our customers with a credible and reliable certificate so that over the coming years they can apply the CE they have earned towards renewing their licenses with confidence that CE awarded by eMedCert is in fact valid," Becker said. eMedCert plans to award credit to physicians and other healthcare professionals in the near future.
