Hagy, an Intellectual Property & Technology shareholder at international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, will speak at the Texas Chapter of The Copyright Society of the USA on the topic "The 'Raging Bull' Decision (Almost) One Year Later: A Discussion of Copyright Limitations and Laches Defenses" from 1:00-2:30 p.m. CT, March 5, 2015.
The Copyright Society of the USA -Texas Chapter and Texas Accountants & Lawyers for the Arts will hold a lunch presentation followed by a networking session at Jackson Walker L.L.P. in Austin, Texas. Hagy will discuss the importance of the "Raging Bull" copyright decision and its effects, as well as the time-based copyright infringement defenses of limitations and laches. Hagy will co-present along with Stevie Fitzgerald, a staff attorney at the Authors Guild in New York City, who submitted an amicus brief to the U.S. Supreme Court in the “Raging Bull” case. The presentation will discuss the importance of this Supreme Court decision and its effects on time-based copyright infringement defenses of limitations and laches, as well possible implications on similar defenses in the context of patent law.
Hagy focuses her practice on patent dispute litigation for a variety of technologies, including computer software, electronics, semiconductors, and digital telephony. She is experienced with motion practice, trial preparation, and briefing at both the trial and appellate levels. Hagy is a Registered Patent Attorney with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. She received her J.D., with high honors, from The University of Texas School of Law, and her B.S., with honors, in Electrical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin. She is listed in The Best Lawyers in America for Litigation – Patent, and is listed as a Texas Super Lawyer.
