Props, the Social Connectivity App, Is Now Available on iOS App Store
Ottawa, Ontario (PRWEB) March 08, 2015 -- Props, an application that simplifies how people connect using multiple social media platforms, is available for download on the iOS App Store. An Android version of Props will be available soon.
The Props application removes all the frustrations and pain of manually adding new contacts over social media. With Props installed, a user simply taps the Props button at the same time as another user and both users are instantly connected over LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
"Beta users and play testers were extremely impressed by Props’ ability to improve social network mingling and reduce the process to one simple tap," said Kyle Smendziuk, CEO of Props. “Never before have I seen such excitement from a user as when their eyes light up after realizing how simple their first Props really was."
The founders of Props have secured the initial investment and partnerships required to globalize early and rapidly. Props has partnered with an application development team, Arctic Empire, and Shopify’s Conversion Team Lead, Alex Bakus.
The Props team is experimenting with how businesses and institutions can get involved with Props to expand their social outreach at a fraction of their current costs. New additions such as contact information sharing are already being considered for future updates of Props.
The multi-disciplinary Props team is comprised of former basketball star Kyle Smendziuk (BEng/13); Greg Dillon (Communications and Minor in Entrepreneurship student), Mohamed Hirsi (Commerce student) and Brayden Girard (Computer Science student). The team came up with the business idea while solving a real problem they themselves faced when completing an entrepreneurship course taught by Professor Tom Duxbury at Carleton's Sprott School of Business.
The four founders of Props are out to prove that Ottawa is the most innovative city in Canada and the Ottawa community has rallied to support them. The Lead To Win program awarded Props a GREEN rating, the gold standard for young entrepreneurs in Canada’s Capital Region. The GREEN rating is a signal that Props has a viable plan to generate annual revenue of $1 million within 3 years.
The Nicol Entrepreneurship Institute awarded co-founder and COO Greg Dillon one of its prestigious Nicol internships. “The Nicol Internship gave us credibility, confidence and a connection to a well-respected program. I hope one day to be able to give as generously as Mr. Nicol has,” said Greg Dillon.
The Carleton-led Accelerator, a program funded by the Ontario Centres of Excellence and Carleton University supported venture team members and hosted an event where the Props team said “thank you” to the many individuals and organizations that support them. Articles on Props have been published by the Ottawa Business Journal, Carleton University Newsroom and the Charlatan. Andy Moffat, tech entrepreneur and executive in residence with Invest Ottawa is one of the team’s advisors.
"The more you talk to people about your product, your business and your vision, the more you realize that Ottawa has what it takes to launch a successful technology start-up that is global upon inception,” said Kyle Smendziuk. "Download Props and revolutionize how people connect over social media."
