Vet Supply Source, a leading purveyor of pet products and medicines for dogs, cats, horses and more, is celebrating National Puppy Day with specials on many of the company’s puppy supplies throughout the Month of March.

National Puppy Day occurs this year on Monday, March 23, and was created in 2006 to raise awareness about the unfavorable conditions at the estimated 8,000 – 10,000 puppy mills in the nation. National Puppy Day encourages adoption from shelters instead of buying puppies from pet stores, as the stores’ puppy sales are a main reason for the abundance of mills.

Puppy mills typically house their animals in overcrowded and dirty cages. Mill puppies often don’t receive the proper health care or vaccines. They are taken from their mothers too early, which can inhibit social growth and lead to problems assimilating into homes. This can then result in the puppies being abandoned in shelters. Once the mothers are no longer fertile, they are often killed or abandoned.

“Vet Supply Source is staffed by pet parents and we firmly support days created to honor our furry friends, and ensure that all are raised in humane conditions and given the opportunity to be adopted into loving homes,” said Vanessa Raybaud, veterinary sales and marketing supervisor and spokesperson for Vet Supply Source. “Puppies bring a lot of joy to a household, and we encourage anyone considering a new puppy this spring to adopt from a local shelter.”

“We are very pleased to support National Puppy Day with month-long specials on products that will help any household prepare and care for a new addition,” continues Raybaud. “These include everything from de-shedding brushes and toothpastes to gum soothers and healthy coat nutritional supplements.”

“We understand that puppies require a lot of time and a lot of work to get them acclimated, adjusted, and thriving in their new environment. We want to make the transition easier on families by offering discounts on the supplies needed to help raise a happy, healthy puppy.”

Vet Supply Source customer service specialists are available by phone, email, and website chat to advise customers on the best products for their needs. Ordering supplies online saves pet owners the hassle of a trip to the pet store and allows them to have supplies and medications conveniently shipped to their front doors.
