Monty’s Plant Food Company has announced that its Vice President of Agronomy, Joe Dedman, has been named to the Soil Renaissance Research Working Group.

The Soil Renaissance is an initiative of the Farm Foundation and The Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation that is designed to bring attention to the critical role of soil health in the challenge of feeding the anticipated 9 billion people on Earth by the year 2050. Specifically, Dedman will work with the organization to help establish parameters for research trials.

The Soil Renaissance Board evolved from discussions by 25 leaders of conventional and organic agriculture, land managers, policymakers and science and research industries.

The goal of the Soil Renaissance Board is to both create awareness and educate individuals on the importance of soil health and how healthier soil can assist the world in feeding the entire population. Dedman will use his expertise to work with the Research Group within the Soil Renaissance Board to reach both of these goals of raising awareness and educating the public.

“There is an overabundance of data that shows that proper soil health increases a grower’s efficiency,” says Dedman. “What we will work to do, through our Soil Renaissance Research Working Group, is to standardize this data to provide a barometer for all growers to use to effectively measure and improve the health of their soil.”
