Alarm Grid Partners with Affirm to Become First DIY Company to Allow Users to Finance Their Security Systems
Lighthouse Point, FL (PRWEB) March 10, 2015 -- Alarm Grid, one of the nation’s fastest growing do-it-yourself home security companies, has partnered with Silicon Valley’s hottest new payment startup: Affirm. Founded by Max Levchin, the former CTO of Paypal, Affirm’s goal is to take a lot of the complexity out of term payments.
“We are excited about this partnership. Affirm is a new company that is taking a different approach to finance. They are transparent and 100% up-front about what they do and how they do it. Those are the same values that Alarm Grid has been built on,” said Joshua Unseth, director of marketing at Alarm Grid.
“The home security industry is notorious for offering free systems in exchange for a customer signing a long-term contracts,” Sterling Donnelly, president of Alarm Grid said. Alarm Grid’s goal is to solve the problem of high priced monitoring by being transparent about the costs associated with monitoring and purchasing equipment. “The idea behind free systems is that the customer will pay for the system over the term of their contract by paying high fees for monitoring. The problem is that once a customer has effectively paid off the ‘free’ system, their monitoring bill doesn’t come down. Over the course of a contract, a customer might pay for their system three or four times. By allowing customers to finance their system, it allows us to be transparent about costs. Once a customer is done paying off the system, they never have to think about that part of the bill again.”
Alarm Grid has been an innovator on the home security side of the fast-growing internet of things sector. Best known for their DIY security resources, such as FAQs and videos, Alarm Grid has led the way to a more connected home. “We want to make sure that customers can get the best security system on the market at a price that anyone can afford. Affirm’s financing makes the best systems on the market affordable to anyone who wants them. We are democratizing high-quality security,” Unseth stated, “no one should be forced to purchase a third-rate security system to protect their home or family.”
When asked why they selected Affirm as a financing partner, Donnelly indicated that Affirm’s transparent philosophy was right in line with Alarm Grid’s core values: “Our entire goal as a company is to pull the cover off the security industry. These systems are not complex to use, though security companies want their customers to think they are. Alarm Grid’s goal is to provide resources that are so easy to use that a 5 year old could install one of our systems as well as any professional installer. Affirm is working to change how financing is done, to give more control to those whom they are financing.” Smiling, Sterling added, “I guess you could say Affirm is the Alarm Grid of the finance industry.”
