AirSonics’ Gigabit Wi-Fi Innovation Delivers Extreme In-home Makeover for Broadband Subscribers
Chapel Hill, NC (PRWEB) March 09, 2015 -- AirSonics, forerunners and innovators in ultra-high performance Wi-Fi, IPTV, and OTT solutions, announced today their multi-use GXT 5G Gigabit Wi-Fi Extender and BWaVE™, a revolutionary in-home Wi-Fi mesh architecture. The pioneering product and architecture will enable Broadband Service Providers (BSPs) and IPTV operators to deliver a whole-home Wi-Fi video and internet oasis for their subscribers.
The installation savings, accelerated deployments, and equipment re-use benefits of the initial AirSonics video bridges helped shave a year from the lengthy IPTV payback period for IPTV operators and they naturally wanted more. “So with over 250,000 video bridges field-deployed by an expanding base of 100+ IPTV operators, we let our customers drive the feature development of the 11ac-based GXT 5G,” said AirSonics General Manager and Founder Ron Musai.
“In addition to wirelessly connecting Set Top Boxes (STBs) for IPTV, these BSPs also needed a wireless solution on the same platform which removed the in-home bandwidth bottleneck for delivering services like Gigabit Internet,” he added. “Having just completed major Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) replacement cycles, BSPs expressed a desire to augment their existing, well-performing CPE devices with a multi-use 11ac device rather than initiating yet another retrofit. We listened and developed the GXT 5G which addresses each item on our customers’ demanding list.”
“While Wi-Fi technology has advanced at a torrid pace over the past 15 years, in-home Wi-Fi architecture has taken an extended innovation vacation,” stated Rick Snelling, VP, Marketing and Sales at AirSonics. “Poor in-home Wi-Fi performance consistently ranks as one of the top 3 reasons for BSP truck rolls and is a major expense which is why we incorporated BWaVE™, a revolutionary mesh technology into our GXT 5G platform. Rather than establishing a poor ‘home run’ link to a distant wireless router, BSP and consumer devices intuitively connect to the GXT 5G offering the optimal signal. With the GXT 5G and BWaVE™, the end result is a whole-home Wi-Fi oasis.”
After successful completion of extensive field BSP beta testing, the GXT 5G will begin shipping in late April 2015.
AirSonics will demonstrate the GXT 5G at the NTCA RTIME EXPO’15 this week at the Phoenix Convention Center in Phoenix, AZ.
