Graduates and Students Can Now Earn Employer-vetted Badges to Become More Competitive in the Job Market
Vernon Hills, IL (PRWEB) March 18, 2015 -- There are an estimated 12.4 million students currently enrolled in community colleges and another 3.5 million enrolled in private career colleges.[1][2] The vast majority of these students plan to complete their programs within two years and immediately seek a job in their field. But the increasing challenge of grade inflation makes it difficult for employers to identify and hire the most qualified graduates.[3][4] Recognizing this challenge, Wonderlic began working with potential employers to create an assessment and badging service that reflects employer-rated competencies.
The service, called Measures of Vocational Proficiencies (MVPs), awards digital badges that reflect job-specific competencies to help graduates demonstrate their job-readiness to potential employers. By translating academic accomplishments into on-the-job capabilities, digital badges give graduates a competitive advantage when applying for jobs. Job seekers can use digital badges with e-resumes, online portfolios, LinkedIn and other social media websites.
“We are in a unique position,” says Charlie Wonderlic, president and CEO, “in that we test millions of job applicants for thousands of employers every year. We know what employers are looking for and we know how to measure it.”
Wonderlic started building the assessments in 2011 and has now completed content for allied health and criminal justice positions. Assessment developers are currently working on business administration and plan to create tests for most career education programs. The test questions are designed to reflect real life job situations with scenario-based and other innovative items.
Wonderlic is offering the existing allied health and criminal justice assessments at no charge to graduates from community and career colleges through July 31, 2015. The MVPs are secure, proctored assessments that must be administered by school officials. The assessments are about one-hour long, administered online and are immediately scored.
