TaxExtension.com Offers Businesses Help Extending the March 16 Filing Deadline
Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) March 11, 2015 -- Most businesses, except sole proprietorships and single-member LLCs, are supposed to file their annual tax return by Monday, March 16. Fortunately, representatives of TaxExtension.com announced today that if businesses can’t file on time, they can get a business extension with TaxExtension.com.
“For electronic filing, they must e-file by midnight in their local time zone,” said Elizabeth Rosen, head of content and spokesperson for TaxExtension.com.
This year’s deadlines are March 16 for calendar year corporations. That includes C- and S- corporations. The deadline to file is April 15 for most sole proprietorships, single-member LLCs, and partnerships.
But, Rosen stressed that, “if you’re hearing the clock ticking in your head and don’t think you can beat it, there are ways to get more time.”
If a business fails to file its return on time and doesn’t request a tax extension, the penalties can be hefty. According to the IRS website, “If you file late and owe federal taxes, two penalties may apply. The first is a failure-to-file penalty for late filing. The second is a failure-to-pay penalty for paying late. The failure-to-file penalty is normally 5% of the unpaid taxes for each month or part of a month that a tax return is late. The failure-to-pay penalty is generally 0.5 percent per month of unpaid taxes.”
“A tax extension gives you more time to gather all your documents and make sure you’ve claimed every tax break you’re eligible for,” Rosen said. “You can obtain a tax extension even if you’re not sure you need one. It’s always better to be safe than sorry.”
