Mashable, the leading media company for the digital generation, announced today that it has hired Heidi Moore as its Business Editor, to oversee its award-winning coverage of business, marketing, media and startups. Mashable is the news organization that has chronicled the way digital innovation has impacted the business world and continues to drive change in the global market.
Mashable has been a credible voice in business news coverage, documenting everything from the rise of technology companies like Google, Facebook and Alibaba as major players in the global market, to a new class of businesses like Uber and Airbnb that are disrupting their respective industries. In her new role, Moore will continue to grow Mashable’s business coverage, while focusing on new trends, technologies and industries that are changing the digital world.
“Over the past few years, we’ve seen technology drive significant changes in business, communications and marketing. We’ve seen how subjects like net neutrality resonate with our core audience and how important it is to present deep and innovative coverage of the rapidly evolving landscape of advertising and communications,” said Jim Roberts, Chief Content Officer and Executive Editor. “I can think of no better journalist than Heidi Moore to guide our business news staff and develop news ways of bringing those stories to our readers and social followers.”
Prior to joining Mashable, Moore was U.S. finance and economics editor for the U.S. edition of The Guardian, where she launched the site’s Money and Business sections as well as multimedia video series around topics such as inequality, economic mobility and immigrant entrepreneurs. While there, she helped double traffic in one year for the Money section, drawing the second-highest reader engagement of any section.
Before that, Moore served as New York bureau chief and Wall Street correspondent for American Public Media’s “Marketplace” from 2010 to 2012. She was also the lead writer for The Wall Street Journal’s award-winning Deal Journal column from 2007 to 2009 during the height of the world financial crisis; U.S. bureau chief for the London-based, Dow Jones-owned newspaper and website, Financial News from 2006 to 2008; and senior writer for The Deal magazine covering Wall Street banks and power brokers from 2000 to 2006.
She joins Mashable next week and can be found on Twitter at @moorehn.
