Summer Camps at Marylhurst Focus on Creative Arts
Portland, Oregon (PRWEB) March 12, 2015 -- Marylhurst University offers several options to keep kids engaged and inspired this summer. All day camps are situated on the beautiful Marylhurst campus located 10 minutes south of Portland on Highway 43.
Creative Arts Day Camp
for kids with special needs
July 13 – 16, 2015: ages 5-9
July 20 – 23, 2015: ages 10-13
The Creative Arts Day Camp for children with and without special needs is a one-week, half-day program where children have access to creative arts therapists. Campers will participate in projects that reinforce the ideal of achieving one's maximum potential in a friendly and adaptive environment that fosters success through a variety of activities including: music therapy, art therapy and dance and movement therapy. Marylhurst Choir Camp
For high school and community college students
August 3 – 7, 2015
This summer camp is a concentrated musical experience designed specifically for enthusiastic, committed high school and community college singers. Performance opportunities in large and small ensembles will challenge students at their personal level. Ensembles will be coached and rehearsed by outstanding guest conductors with a national reputation. Students may participate in recitals and masterclasses, receive private lessons from our professional staff for an additional fee, and enroll in elective courses such as Choral Conducting, Vocal Jazz Technique, Composing for Video Games, and more. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Cost: $150 includes all music, course tuition (excluding private lessons), lunch each day and camp t-shirt. Workshop for teen writers and artists
Ages 14-18
June 18 – 26, 2015
In this nine-day seminar, high school students receive college-level instruction in creative writing and visual arts, taking introductory and advanced seminars in prose and poetry along with visual arts workshops, such as drawing, comic arts, digital writing, printmaking and book arts. Seminar-style classes are taught by working, professional visual artists and writers. Students develop skills as creative writers, inventive artists, critical thinkers and spirited collaborators within a generous, diverse community of learners. Hours are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily.
