Natural High Calls on Students to Showcase Dreams in Annual Drug Prevention Video & Essay Contest
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (PRWEB) March 12, 2015 -- Natural High, a national drug prevention nonprofit organization based in San Diego, is now accepting entries for their sixth annual national Video & Essay Contest. In written or video form, Natural High is asking students between 5th and 12th grade to show the world their natural high and how it inspires them say no to drugs and alcohol. The contest is a unique opportunity for educators, parents and schools nationwide to engage young people in a positive drug prevention message that simultaneously empowers them with character development tools.
“This past year, we hit a milestone and now reach 20,000 educators and 8 million youth with the Natural High message,” said Natural High founder, Jon Sundt. “There is no way to celebrate that is more aligned with our mission than to offer young people a chance to express their natural highs through our annual Video & Essay Contest. It’s literally a way for us to make dreams come true.”
Contestants will be split into two age levels based on grade (5th-8th and 9th-12th) and can submit entries in either video or essay format. The top four entrants (one from each age level and each format) will receive a $250 grant, to be used to pursue their natural highs. Of the four first prize winners, one entry will be selected for the grand prize, which includes a GoPro Hero4 Black Edition video camera, all-expenses paid trip Natural High’s annual gala in San Diego, and Natural High branded merchandise.
As an added bonus this year, every educator who gets at least 10 of their students to enter will win a Natural High merchandise prize pack, valued at $50.
Last year, more than 240 contestants entered from 39 states for the chance to show the world their passions, exhibiting a wide array of natural highs. The winner, Clay Baron from New York, took the grand prize by writing an outstanding essay about his natural high: wrestling. As the top contestant, his dreams came true as he experienced the ultimate natural high, when his personal hero and role model, Professional Wrestler Kyle Dake, surprised him on-stage at Natural High’s 20th Anniversary Gala.
