Newly announced London data center joins Zurich as second Blue Box facility in Europe

Blue Box Cloud

Blue Box—a Seattle-based provider of on-demand OpenStack-powered private cloud as a service (PCaaS) solutions—has selected TelecityGroup as the colocation provider for its first data center in the U.K., making Blue Box Cloud available to European customers who require European Union (EU) data residency.

TelecityGroup is a provider of premium carrier-neutral data centers, operating facilities in city locations across Europe, including seven data centers in the London area. TelecityGroup is renowned for its environmental leadership and green initiatives such as maximizing energy efficiency and reducing carbon emissions.

With its London expansion, Blue Box increases its global footprint for Blue Box Cloud to four locations, aligning with key markets in North America and EMEA, as the company continues executing on its global capacity expansion. The London data center will meet EU data sovereignty requirements and join an existing European data center for Blue Box Cloud in Zurich.

The agreement between Blue Box and Telecity was brokered by Global Communication Networks.

“We considered a number of options in the U.K., and we found TelecityGroup to be extremely collaborative, much more of a partner than simply a provider. We were also impressed with the value of its Cloud-IX platform, environmental stewardship, and its desire and ability to service the needs of Blue Box and our customers as we grow our presence in the European market.”
Hernan Alvarez, Chief Product Officer, Blue Box

European Proof of Concept Program Underway
Blue Box recently announced a proof-of-concept (PoC) program for European customers evaluating OpenStack-powered private clouds. As part of the launch of the PoC and the new U.K. data center, Blue Box is sponsoring Cloud Expo Europe in London on March 11 and 12. Companies interested in Blue Box Cloud can schedule one-on-one meetings with Blue Box senior management by signing up here.

Blue Box is targeting participants in market sectors with specific workloads requiring control, performance, security and predictability in a variety of sectors, including healthcare, media and entertainment, financial services, technology and retail.
