Cura Surgical Group Acquires Surgical-Site Lighting from Lumitex
Geneva, IL (PRWEB) March 18, 2015 -- An investment group led by Cura Surgical has acquired three lines of medical device lighting products from Lumitex, including LightMat®, VersaLight™ and Ortho-Light™. The disposable lighting devices can be inserted into body cavities and surgical incisions to illuminate hard-to-see areas during surgery. Cura Surgical will soon begin manufacturing and marketing the surgical lighting devices worldwide to surgeons and healthcare facilities.
“With our focus on surgical products, we are always looking for breakthrough technologies that improve outcomes, are cost effective, and that provide real benefit to patients, physicians, and hospitals. Lumitex has proven technology for bringing bright, cool light safely into the surgical site, allowing surgeons to see more clearly than what can be visualized with overhead lighting or headlamps,” said Raul Brizuela, President and CEO of Cura Surgical. “We look forward to integrating this advanced lighting technology into Cura Surgical’s family of medical devices.”
LightMat, VersaLight, and OrthoLight are single-use, sterile devices designed for surgery. These cost-effective illumination devices can be used with standard operating room equipment. The LightMat surgical illuminator can be held independently or attached to most surgical retractors and other instruments. VersaLight is a multifunction device that illuminates, aspirates, irrigates and retracts. OrthoLight is specially designed for minimally invasive orthopedic surgery.
Cura Surgical and Lumitex will work together to ensure a seamless transition of customer service, ordering and shipping while manufacturing and marketing move to Cura Surgical. These devices will also have the benefit of Cura’s experienced teams in Quality, Regulatory, Manufacturing, Operations, Sales and Marketing.
