Reproductive Medicine Associates of Connecticut Has Live Birth Rate 22% Higher Than the National Average, According to Society for Assisted Reproductive Technologies*
Norwalk, CT (PRWEB) March 12, 2015 -- The Society for Assisted Reproductive Technologies (http://www.SART.org), an independent non-profit organization responsible for gathering, verifying and distributing data from fertility practices nationwide, released its latest report for all U.S.-based in vitro fertilization (IVF) programs on March 4, 2015. Based on the greatly anticipated SART Clinic Summary Report, Reproductive Medicine Associates of Connecticut (RMACT) continues to be a leader in infertility treatment. RMACT, which brings the latest advances in IVF and reproductive care to infertility patients, has a live birth rate significantly higher for women under 35 with thawed, non-donor cycles; its live birth rate is 66% (84/127) as compared to 44% nationally.*
“We offer infertility patients from across Connecticut and New York something different here at RMACT, and our latest IVF delivery rates illustrate those differences,” said Dr. Mark Leondires, medical director for RMACT. “Extended embryo culture, endometrial synchrony, Select CCS (comprehensive chromosome screening), as well as yoga and acupuncture are all components of our success. Our goal is not simply to achieve pregnancies, it’s to achieve healthy pregnancies, one baby at a time.”
Having the most state-of-the-art IVF lab in Connecticut and the region also positively affects treatment decisions. “By having an exceptional IVF lab, we have the ability and confidence to transfer fewer embryos per cycle. By transferring fewer embryos, we’re preventing complicated multiple pregnancies, yet we’re still able to maintain some of the highest delivery rates in the country,” said Dr. Spencer Richlin, surgical director for RMACT.
Dr. Joshua M. Hurwitz, a fertility specialist with RMACT, added: “There is a sea-change in IVF going on right now. Previously, we believed that a fresh embryo transfer gave us the best chance for pregnancy, but now we are seeing success rates from our frozen embryo cycles jump ahead. This is due to a major advance in embryo cryopreservation techniques, termed vitrification, as well our ability to screen each embryo to make sure it is chromosomally normal, termed Select CCS. Frozen embryo transfer cycles are the future of fertility treatment; they give us the best chance for implantation, healthier pregnancies and the ability to achieve the ultimate goal of highest pregnancy rates one baby at a time.”
The entire RMACT fertility team contributes to the overall success of each patient, and includes five board-certified reproductive endocrinologists, nurses, therapists, a nutritionist, acupuncturists, financial advisors and the third party reproduction team. RMACT’s robust medical team gives the physicians an opportunity to consult and collaborate with each other and benefit from their broad medical expertise. Patients are also counseled in an integrative manner and encouraged to improve their overall health, including nutrition and stress management, through RMACT’s Integrated Fertility & Wellness Program.
*RMACT’s live birth rate is 66% (84/127) as compared to 44% nationally, as reported to SART. A patient comparison of clinic success rates may not be meaningful because patient medical characteristics, treatment approaches and entrance criteria for ART may vary from clinic to clinic.

About SART
The Society for Reproductive Technologies (SART) is the primary organization of professionals dedicated to the practice of IVF, or assisted reproductive technologies (ART). The mission of SART is to establish and maintain standards for ART in an effort to better serve its members and patients. The organization represents the majority of the ART clinics in the United States at around 90% clinic participation. One of SART’s most important functions is to collect birth outcome data from its member clinics. The clinic summary data helps patients view data on a national and individual basis. Patients may also contact infertility clinics through SART.
Please note a comparison of clinic success rates may not be meaningful because a patient’s medical characteristics, treatment approaches and entrance criteria for ART may vary from clinic to clinic.
