Moff Band, the Wearable Smart Toy, Brings Sounds to a Child's Imagination

Moff SDK lets iOS developers connect their apps to the Moff Band.

Moff™, the startup that created the wearable smart toy, is today announcing the introduction of the Moff Software Development Kit (SDK). The Moff SDK will provide iOS app developers with access to Moff’s proprietary motion and position recognition library. In addition, the Moff SDK delivers access to Moff’s Bluetooth connection manager software.

The Tokyo MotionControl Network, an open community of developers focused on sensors and Internet of Things (IoT), is showcasing the first prototype app developed using the Moff SDK. The new “Toothbrushing App” employs Moff’s Bluetooth LE manager and motion and position library in order to gamify a child’s daily chore of toothbrushing, while encouraging fun and good habits. “With the Moff SDK for iOS, app developers are given access to our company’s ‘secret sauce’ — a library of proprietary motion and position recognition data and algorithms. Our data library enables easy development for new genres of apps to pair with the Moff Band,” says Aki Takahagi, CEO of Moff.

Moff’s vision is to create a new generation of “Connected Human” apps, in which wearables will transcend sensors capturing data and allow humans to interact and entertain. The Moff SDK for iOS is the first phase of opening up this vision to select partners interested in creating innovative, connected human apps that combine motion, sound and fun.

In addition to exhibiting at SXSW 2015, Moff has been selected by Tech Cocktail as one of the 20 hottest startups and will be presenting at the Tech Cocktail SWSXi 2015 showcase on Sunday, March 15, at 7 p.m. (CT).

In celebration of SXSW, a new “Stars ‘n Stripes” sound is being introduced as a Moff iOS app update (version 1.1.5). The new sound is a Jimi Hendrix-style air guitar rendition of the “Star Spangled Banner” that allows Moff Band users to rock out in full guitar motion and keep the spirit of ’69 alive!
