All of us have a unique back-story about our own spiritual journeys, but we rarely talk so personally.

All you need is love and a few friends to share it.

As her marriage and emotional stability crumbled away, Eleanor MacLellan held tightly to her faith and friends. In her book, “Sole to Soul,” MacLellan tells the story of heartbreak and restoration after her son’s escalating self-sabotage. During this time, five other women joined MacLellan in making a large, portable canvas labyrinth for their community. As they worked, they shared powerful personal stories that helped MacLellan discover a deeper faith in the midst of their interwoven paths.

The bond MacLellan formed with the other women helped her hurdle some of life's biggest obstacles. In their spiritual community she found the freedom to recognize the parables of her own neighborhood, and time to begin developing a “gospel according to me.”

“I think a lot of people feel spiritually alone and are looking for a way to connect with each other on a deeper, more meaningful level,” MacLellan said. “All of us have a unique back-story about our own spiritual journeys, but we rarely talk so personally.”

MacLellan felt the joy of marriage and motherhood as well as the pain of divorce and a son’s teenage rebellion. She's experienced the guilt that many parents feel when a child strays in the wrong direction. MacLellan has learned to appreciate the companionship of people who have helped her along the way, and to find extraordinary meaning in ordinary daily life.

Today, MacLellan hopes to encourage people to share their stories with a close friend and to accompany each other on the journey.

“In this culture of sound bites, sensationalism, bad news and the rat-race of daily life, it is easy to sideline some of the most important aspects of life: creativity, dreams, humor, unique talents, and key relationships, all of which contribute to spiritual growth,” MacLellan said.
