The Bronze Medalist of the Musical Arts Society of New Orleans’ (MASNO) 2014 New Orleans International Piano Competition, Kenny Broberg returns to New Orleans for a performance, masterclass and lecture at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) on Thursday, March 26th at 1:30pm. In partnership with the Steinway Society of New Orleans, Hall Piano Company, South Louisiana’s premier Steinway & Sons dealer, is sponsoring the event as part of their community development initiative. The event is free and open to the public.

Steve Kinchen, co-owner of Hall Piano Company, said, “This presents a wonderful opportunity for future concert artists to hear about the experience of the New Orleans Piano Institute and performing in the International Competition. We are always pleased to join with the Steinway Society of New Orleans to make this kind of knowledge available.”

Broberg plays “with an emotional sophistication far beyond his years” (Duluth News Tribune). Twenty-one years old, Kenny Broberg has studied the piano since age six. A resident of Minneapolis, Kenny studied for nine years with Dr. Joseph Zins. Following high school he moved to Houston, where he currently studies at the Moores School of Music with Nancy Weems. He has also taken private lessons from or been in masterclasses with Abbey Simon, Bernd Goetzke, Menahem Pressler, and Arie Vardi, among others. Kenny has played concerti with a number of orchestras, including the Minnesota Orchestra, the Moores School Symphony Orchestra, and the Moores School Wind Ensemble. Awards include the Bronze Medal at the New Orleans International Piano Competition, Silver and Bronze Medals at the Wideman International Piano Competition, the Gold Medal at the Mika Hasler Young Artist Competition, and the Silver Medal at the Young Texas Artists Music Competition. Solo, concerto, and chamber performances have been aired on the radio on NPR and KUHF 91.7 Houston. Kenny is also in great demand as a collaborative artist.

Hall Piano Company has served the gulf coast region since 1958. As South Louisiana’s premier Steinway & Sons dealer, their services include piano sales and rentals, acoustic and digital piano sales, piano lessons and method books.
