Hope For The Warriors Presents Sex After Combat: In Pursuit of Healthy Relationships
(PRWEB) March 17, 2015 -- Hope For The Warriors® was proud to present a unique radio program tackling the subject of intimacy in the wounded warrior community. Hope For The Warriors® is at the forefront of this important conversation, addressing the physical and psychological injuries that affect a healthy sexual relationship after combat. Hope For The Warriors® is a national nonprofit dedicated to restoring a sense of self, restoring the family unit, and restoring hope for our service members and our military families.
Motivational speaker and military caregiver peer mentor Patti Katter partnered with certified life coach and author Shannon Ethridge to discuss the topic of intimacy within the wounded warrior community. Questions on the program and its topic were e-mailed to Katter before and during the program.
War injuries such as loss of limb, severe burns, traumatic brain injuries and post-traumatic stress impact the sexually intimacy within an increasing number of military marriages. In the program, Ethridge tackled some of the intimate trials our veterans and their partners face, giving tips on how to have a more healthy, intimate relationship.
“It's a much needed topic that seems taboo to many,” said Patti Katter, the program’s host. “Hope For The Warriors® has always been a leader with real life issues affecting our heroes and their partners. We hope everyone took away that education and communication are key to a successful sexual relationship."
“The reality is, if we feel incredibly close emotionally, and spiritually, and mentally, coming together physically isn't nearly as big of a challenge,” said Shannon Etheridge. “Let’s start building the intimacy in the relationship. Let's start creating some of that emotional connection and the physical connection will happen naturally.”
The original broadcast aired Wednesday, February 18, but can be found at bit.ly/SexAfterCombat.
The BlogTalkRadio program is just a small part of the growing program work that Hope For The Warriors® has created to support military caregivers. Other program work includes Caregiver Wellness Workshops, Spouse/Caregiver Scholarships, and monitored online support groups.
