MISS DIG System, Inc. is the Notification System for the protection of underground facilities in the State of Michigan. They receive dig notices from homeowners and contractors who intend to perform excavation work. MISS DIG then transmits the dig information to the member underground facility owners and operators in the affected area. In compliance with Michigan’s Public Act 174 of 2013, the facility owners and operators mark the location of their lines in the area. Since opening their call center in 1970, MISS DIG has received more than 20 million service requests. With a growing demand and widening customer base, MISS DIG recognized the need for a website that made it easy for customers and utility companies to find them and request their service, but their previous website fell short.
MISS DIG’s CEO, Bruce Campbell, says, “We realized that the limitations of our website were stunting our growth. It wasn’t mobile-friendly, so we couldn’t reach people who search from their phones and tablets. It was also difficult to find important information on the site, and when we tried to change that or edit our content, it was nearly impossible.”
