New Designer Drug, Flakka, Plagues Florida’s Streets, Similar to Bath Salts
USA (PRWEB) March 16, 2015 -- A new designer drug, flakka, is hitting Florida streets. The synthetic drug is able to intoxicate substance abusers by smoking, injecting, or snorting the substance. Flakka induces hallucinations, super human strength, delusions, hallucinations, paranoia, and anxiety - which may cause heart attack or stroke. According to NBC Miami on March 12th the drug is derived from bath salts- which claimed the headlines of Florida newspapers for months after a gruesome incident a few years ago. Harbor Village Detox is an inpatient medical detox facility committed to providing the apex of drug and alcohol treatment in South Florida. Their medical addiction experts warn the South Florida community to stay away from synthetic addictive substances, as they are unpredictable, and may cause complications in effective drug treatment.
Those who abuse flakka appear to suffer from a myriad of varying effects; the drug affects everyone differently, and is typically synthesized with a medley of dangerous chemicals- making it exceedingly difficult to treat. A Harbor Village Detox associate comments, “The rise of designer drugs is a terrifying trend. People are turned into superhuman mad men, suffering from delusions and hallucinations. They pose a direct threat to the people around them and themselves while in a drug induced altered state. In regards to treatment of synthetic drugs, it can be difficult to nail down right away- with Flakka in particular- because so many different chemicals are used to make it it’s hard to pinpoint just the right medication to use to treat symptoms of withdrawal. Don’t ever think synthetic drugs aren’t dangerous- they can be even more so in some cases.”
The inpatient medical detox facility, Harbor Village Detox, is governed on the principles of providing affordable, effective, and lasting drug and alcohol addiction treatment. Harbor Village Detox is located in South Florida, but extends its addiction treatment services nationwide to help its patients escape their harmful environments of abuse. The facility provides patients with an upscale family setting treatment center, and couples medical treatment with holistic healing.
