Jokes, Laughter & Entertainment
They say that laughter is good for the soul. Plan to laugh like you have never laughed before at the 2015 Westchester Comedy Festival, featuring some of the funniest comedians in the area. Competitions featuring well-known comedians will be held at various locations throughout the county on the following dates: Saturday, April 18; Wednesday, April 22; Thursday, April 23 and Sunday, April 26. At the end of the competitions on April 26, a winner will be crowned the funniest comedian/comedienne in Westchester. The festival will also celebrate “Women in Comedy” with actress/producer/comedienne Rain Pryor headlining the show at Alvin and Friends, located at 14 Memorial Highway in New Rochelle. Pryor, the daughter of the late comedian Richard Pryor, has appeared at comedy venues including Caroline’s in New York City and is the host of Rise and Shine on ARISE TV. Enjoy An Evening of Laughter and Reflection with Carol Burnett at the Westchester County Center on Friday, April 17. One of the greatest talents of the modern era and a television celebrity of the highest order, Burnett has been regaling her audiences with backstage tales, her partnership with her TV ensemble cast and a career spent making America laugh. The show begins at 8:00 p.m. Tickets start at $63.50. The Westchester County Center is located at 198 Central Avenue in White Plains. Bring the kids to Tarrytown Music Hall for Pinkalicious the Musical on Saturday, April 11 at 2:00 p.m. In the performance, Pinkalicious can’t stop eating pink cupcakes despite warnings from her parents. Her pink indulgence lands her to the doctor’s office with “Pinkititis,” an affliction that turns her pink from head to toe – a dream come true for this pink enthusiast. On Saturday, April 25, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture (just 45 minutes north of Manhattan) will host a special Sheep Shearing Fest to celebrate the arrival of spring, the growth of tender new grass and the animals that thrive in their pastures. The event will include family-friendly activities, crafts, live music and seasonal fare as part of a daylong celebration with festivities for the entire family throughout the barns and fields. Some highlights include sheep shearing, making floral crowns from farm-grown materials, and planting in the field and in the greenhouse. A wide selection of food and beverages will also be available for purchase. Tickets are $25 for adults, $15 for children ages 2 to 14 and free for children under 2.
