"From 'handalizing' your existing phone number to monetizing phone calls for companies like radio stations, 8Hundo™ is going to shake up telecommunications," said Clayton Redmon, 8Hundo™ Co-founder.

Traditionally, an 800 number is a number purchased to allow people to call toll-free. With 8Hundo™, Your 800 number for the Internet℠, that tradition faces disruption.
"From “handalizing” your existing phone number to monetizing phone calls for companies like radio stations, 8Hundo™ is going to shake up telecommunications," said Clayton Redmon, 8Hundo™ Co-founder.
"At its core, 8Hundo™ is a new technology that lets people turn existing United States landlines or U.S. mobile numbers into an 8Hundo™, for others to call from around the world toll-free," Redmon said.
8Hundo™ is the brainchild of NomderNations, a Silicon Prairie (Dallas, TX) think tank headed up by Redmon and Co-Founder Bryan Nations. This team is no stranger to innovation. In 2012, they received the People’s Choice Award presented by Black Enterprise™ for innovation in healthcare technology.
“A significant number of online consumers still use flash-enabled desktop, laptop, and tablet devices to search for products and services they want. Among other things, 8Hundo™ allows your desktop, laptop and tablet customers to make calls as easily as your mobile customers would,” Nations said.
"Distinctions make the difference," Redmon explained. "8Hundo™ has several unique features compared with other online communication tools."
“First, you can use your 8Hundo™ from any point on the Internet. Meaning global callers can call direct to your mobile phone from a website, email, social media, online advertisement, Craigslist™, even industry-based sites such as Loopnet,” Redmon said. Neither party has to be logged in to a specific site.
Secondly, calls to U.S. landlines and U.S. mobile numbers from flash-enabled laptops, desktops, and tablets for free, globally. Unlike competitors that may charge .01 per minute or require a monthly fee subscription, 8Hundo™ has taken an innovative approach to removing costs to users.
Thirdly, 8Hundo™ allows people and organizations to add personal branding (a handle) to existing U.S. landline and mobile numbers for Free. For example, instead of giving out a 10-digit number, users provide a brand, personalized name, or existing social media handle. Callers connect as if they had a 10-digit phone number.
"The opportunity to create and build personal branding using 8Hundo™ is key," said Calvin Portley, President of RxCue, a Los-Angeles based healthcare IT company.
“It is always important to be on the precipice of technology,” said Portley, 34, an early adopter of 8Hundo™. “You want to be early in order to get prime technology real estate.”
There is an urgency among individuals and businesses to lock in a “clean handle” for their 8Hundo™, Portley explained. If you want secure your own personal name or business name without additional characters, clients remember and connect with you quicker, he said. The 8Hundo™ concept and “handalizing” make good sense, he said.
“No one wants their Instagram name or brand connected to a competitor’s phone number, right?” Nations said. “If you did not get your Instagram early because you were satisfied with FaceBook, when you finally got around to it, chances are the username you needed, was already taken. The same goes for being first to secure website domains.”
Likewise, community-based businesses are quickly securing custom handles, to boost branding and broaden reach.
“I think it will be a great fit knowing that a great portion of our job seekers go to public libraries and our many community centers to access computers,” said Aisha Hill, recruiter for Goodwill of North Georgia. "With 8Hundo™, our jobseekers will be able to connect directly from the computer they are using, and not have to wait for an available phone at our centers."
