The Controversial Artist Tomer Peretz is Calling You to Take Action in the Fight Against Terror
(PRWEB) March 18, 2015 -- #NoApologies is a new art project created to raise the awareness in the war against terror around the world.
Emphasizing- The individual perspective Vs. Terror.
This project supports military operations in civilized nations that support human rights around the world.
“Let’s remove the “blinds”, break the silence, take action and stop apologizing for who we are, This is a call for those who want their kids to grow up freely and without the fear to express their identity. In times when terror organizations gain so much popularity on media outlets it’s time to speak out loud and express the voice of those who served or support military operations in order to protect against terror."
Peretz, a Los Angeles based artist was born and raised in Jerusalem in the heart of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He completed a full service in the Israeli defense force as a battlefield soldier and officer.
The emotions evolving his military service inspired Peretz to express it on the canvas.
In 2012, Peretz launched the “Unbreakable” project, a partially provocative art show composed of a 25 large-scale painting and collected artifacts, reflecting his time spent serving the IDF and participating in missions in the Middle East. This exhibition presented Peretz as a right wing artist. The “Unbreakable” project had gained much exposure and created quite a stir online.
Growing out of the “Unbreakable” project, Peretz started questioning the idea of the individual as a representative of the institution.
Peretz researched and met veteran soldiers who served in military operations around the world and found out that many of them questioned their mission. However they all felt they should not apologize for completing their mission duty regardless of their identity.
The #NoApologies project features oil paintings, photography, street art, graffiti and for the first time, artworks and paintings projected on subject bodies creating a whole new meaning.
Peretz wants to zoom in and enlighten the lone perspective without the default stereotype (or with an unexpected one).
