Assisted Living Facility Manse On Marsh Raises Standard Of Excellence With New Serving Seniors Certification
San Luis Obispo, CA (PRWEB) April 04, 2015 -- Assisted living facility Manse on Marsh in San Luis Obispo announced this week that they will be rolling out a new, 60-hour certification process and course that will be mandatory for all new hires. Continuing education units will also be awarded to licensed staff.
"The purpose of this industry training is to promote a standard of excellence among the staff at the Manse," Executive Director Gary Potts said. Potts, the Manse’s registered nurse, and department directors teach the courses. Potts said that the process of teaching is done in three parts, which include an interactive classroom, online videos and lectures, and a shadowing of experienced team members.
Interactive course topics include:
• Learning to work in a community setting
• State and federal regulations
• Safety training
• Diversity training
• Giving attention to special needs of the senior population
• General classes geared towards enhancing the care environment
"The general purpose of the Manse is to enrich the lives of the people we serve," Potts said. "We aim to break down the misconceptions of our industry, not with words but by serving others with genuine compassion so that it enriches their lives every day." The certification course is another advance, Potts said, in regards to the Manse staff's knowledge base.
"Essentially, our community provides a place for residents and families to return to, or often surpass, a higher standard of life enriching activities," Potts said. "This is true for both the individuals in our community and their families who were often the previous caregivers. With this high standard of care, comfort and safety being provided by our professional and compassionate staff, we have found our residents truly enjoy living their lives in a zone of enjoyment, wellness and creativity."
