iti Direct Mail Greatly Expands its Letter Printing Services

According to a Direct Mail Association Factbook, for consumers age 15 years and older, an average of 65 percent have made a purchase as a result of direct mail in the previous year, and thanks to expanded direct mail and letter printing services by iti Direct Mail (, people across the globe will now have the ability to choose from a wide range of printing services.

“We have more paper stock now, different weights of paper from lighter to heavier papers,” said Alan Barseghian, marketing director of iti Direct Mail, whose specialty product is printing mail-merged letters with personalized appearing envelopes that do not look like junk mail. “Now we can also print your letters on glossy paper. These are ideal for letters that are heavy with photographs and graphics.”

Barseghian explained that iti Direct Mail has also expanded its higher-end paper stock to more textured and linen paper stocks in variety of colors with matching envelopes.

“We can also print on real lined canary color notepad paper, which is very commonly used with handwritten fonts for a very personal look,” Barseghian pointed out, before adding, “These types of mailers are commonly used for a short note to the recipient. We can also print on newspaper paper, in either black and white, two color, three color or full color, which is very commonly used for article printing. If you have published an article in the past in a newspaper, this type of paper is ideal for reproducing your article and including it with your letter.”

The company’s expansion could prove to have perfect timing.

According to the Direct Mail Association Factbook, the 65 percent (mentioned earlier) of those making purchases translates to an average success or response rate of about 4.4 percent, which is about 10 to 30 times higher than direct email marketing, direct postal mail’s closest competitor.

In fact, an average cost-per-lead of $51.40 is significantly less than telemarketing and in line with all other forms of direct marketing.

In contrast, direct email marketing is less expensive to create and send than direct postal mail, but also has lower average success rates.

It is for these reasons that iti Direct Mail has added more services, such as Perforation.

“Now we can perforate your letters, so the recipient can easily and neatly cut a portion of your letter,” said Berseghian. “This is commonly used if the recipient is to return a portion of your letter back to you.”

Berseghian went on to note that the company now also provides hand-inserting marketing material.

“We can include a business card, a refrigerator magnet, and variety of marketing material with your letters,” Berseghian said. “This is commonly known as "Lumpy mail.” This technique can increase your response rate significantly.”

Staggering mail is also an added service, where iti Direct Mail can print customers’ direct mail campaign as one order, but mail them out in smaller batches.

This is commonly used, Berseghian, explained, if the client is concerned about getting too many calls at once and they would rather spread out their incoming calls.

But, those aren’t the only services the company has added. It now offers multiple versions of the customers’ letter.

“This option can be very beneficial for some companies,” Berseghian stressed. “This allows you to have different types of letters with different content and different graphics in a single order. A common example of this is if you have a mortgage company and each mortgage broker sends out a completely different letter that contains a different content and different letterhead to their prospects.”
