Daniel Notkin Wins the 9th Annual Oyster Shucking Competition
Boston, MA (PRWEB) March 17, 2015 -- The winner of the 9th Annual Oyster Shucking Competition, held at Seafood Expo North America, has been announced. Daniel Notkin of Notkins Oyster Bar competed against 13 other contestants at today’s event.
Notkin takes on the title as the fastest shucker in the East over second place competitor, Steve Boreen of Benjamin’s Raw Bar by only 34 seconds. Daniel Notkin won the $700 price for shucking a dozen oysters in an adjusted time of 1 minute, 37 seconds.
Deborah A Pratt of Virginia Marine Product Boards, 2014 oyster shucking competition winner, secured third place while Keith Rose from Captain Wellfleet Fisheries and Gordon Weldon from Gordon’s Oysters came in fourth and fifth place respectively.
This year’s competition was judged by Chef Chris Aerni of Rossmount Inn, Skip Bennett, owner of Island Creek Oyster Bar and Joseph Milano, owner of Union Oyster House.
