Inmate communications leader Telmate announced the issuance of a new patent (U.S. Patent No. 8,976,949) for Telmate's automated core calling system. Known as the “Telmate Central Call Platform,” what the patent describes is a new technical architecture for handling inmate calls, which has been the foundation of Telmate’s inmate calling platform since the company’s inception.

With the Central Call Platform, computer servers are located in multiple geographical locations and this redundancy helps ensure there is never a loss in service.

"Having equipment on premises is expensive to maintain and quickly outdated," said Telmate Chief Architect, Grant Gongaware. "This platform adds flexibility, security and increased reliability to any calls made in and out of any jail facility."

This new practice is far more secure and reliable than traditional premise-based alternatives.

"Having equipment on premises is expensive to maintain and quickly outdated," said Telmate Chief Architect, Grant Gongaware. "This platform adds flexibility, security and increased reliability to any calls made in and out of any jail facility."

With the Central Call Platform, computer servers are located in multiple geographical locations and this redundancy helps ensure there is never a loss in service and that inmate call recordings are never lost. For example, in the event of an extended blackout or internet outage, Telmate’s architecture makes sure that inmate calls can be routed through alternative facilities with no loss of data or recordings.

This is the company’s seventh patent issued, in just over the last 8 months. For more information about Telmate, visit http://www.telmate.com.
