Thousands of transvaginal mesh lawsuits (http://www.vaginalmeshlawsuit2015.com/) filed against C.R. Bard, Inc. continue to move forward in the federal multidistrict litigation now underway in U.S. District Court, Southern District of West Virginia, where Bernstein Liebhard LLP partner, Jeffrey S. Grand, is currently serving on the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee. According to a Pretrial Order issued on March 12, 2014, the Court has established new deadlines pertaining to Expert Discovery and Motions Practice for the Avaulta mesh claims selected for the proceeding’s third wave of bellwether trials. Among other things, the Order directs plaintiffs to serve expert disclosure and reports no later than March 19, 2015. C.R. Bard has been ordered to serve its expert disclosures and reports by March 26, 2015. (In Re: C.R. Bard, Inc., Pelvic Repair System Products Liability Litigation - MDL No. 2187)

“Our Firm is representing hundreds of women who allegedly suffered serious vaginal mesh complications following implantation of pelvic mesh marketed by C.R. The Firm continues to evaluate lawsuits on behalf of women who were allegedly harmed by transvaginal mesh implants following surgery to correct pelvic organ prolapse and stress urinary incontinence.

Transvaginal Mesh Litigation
Court documents indicate that more than 10,500 transvaginal mesh lawsuits have been filed against C.R. Bard in the Southern District of West Virginia. All of the lawsuits pending in the litigation were filed on behalf of women who allegedly experienced mesh erosion, chronic pain, organ damage and other serious vaginal mesh complications following implantation of the company’s pelvic mesh devices.

According to court records, C.R. Bard has also been named a defendant in more than 1,700 additional vaginal mesh claims that are currently pending in a multicounty litigation now underway in New Jersey’s Bergen County Superior Court. Mr. Grand was appointed Co-Liaison Counsel for that proceeding. (In re: Pelvic Mesh Litigation/Bard, No. L-6339-10)

In addition to his work on the C.R. Bard proceedings, Mr. Grand is also serving on the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committees in the remaining pelvic mesh litigations established in the Southern District of West Virginia: In Re: American Medical Systems, Inc., Pelvic Repair Systems Products Liability Litigation - MDL No. 2325; In Re: Boston Scientific Corp., Pelvic Repair Systems Products Liability Litigation - MDL No. 2326; In Re: Coloplast Corp.
