Balfour® parent company, American Achievement Corporation (AAC), has acquired a majority stake in MyYearLook, Inc., the only college-branded, collaborative web/mobile app enabling members of a collegiate community to capture, share and preserve campus life as it happens.

MyYearLook offers a richer, more diverse and authentic depiction of student life, while allowing administrators to engage directly with students, alumni and donors in a creative, collaborative manner.

Balfour®, the largest college class ring provider in the country, is now in the business of preserving more real-time collegiate memories with online, crowdsourced, school-branded memory albums through the MyYearLook® web and mobile app. Balfour® is owned by American Achievement Corporation, which recently acquired a majority stake in MyYearLook, Inc. of Port Orchard, Washington.

“Colleges and universities, and the students who serve as their ambassadors, are currently relying on a patchwork of social platforms to piece together a collective campus experience," said Steve Parr, CEO of American Achievement Corporation. "We were very impressed with the MyYearLook® approach to capturing, sharing and preserving these collegiate memories. It offers a richer, more diverse and authentic depiction of student life, while allowing administrators to engage directly with students, alumni and donors in a creative, collaborative manner."

MyYearLook® is an innovative web and mobile application that offers easy-to-use crowdsourcing tools for creating online, school-wide memory albums. These albums, which are pre-built and skinned to reflect school affinity, can be further customized by adding "chapters" for clubs, teams, departments and organizations in order for them to showcase their respective activities and school spirit.

MyYearLook® Albums allow for:

  • shared mobile images, videos and music from anyone authorized to participate;
  • pre-populated digital asset libraries (e.g., mascots, colors, campus images), letting administrators control the look-and-feel of their album layout;
  • video and slideshow creation/editing based on shared content;
  • users to contribute to a individual chapters or the campus-wide album; and,
  • student creation of personal (self-managed) vanity albums with their own network of contributors.

"Balfour has an unparalleled reputation on college and university campuses around the country," said Julie Doran, Founder and CEO of MyYearLook, Inc. "We are excited to join forces with such a well-established team, and look forward to going into the market together."
