One of North America’s largest grocery chains chooses Orckestra’s next-generation Overture platform on Microsoft Azure to power their e-commerce strategy
Montreal, Quebec (PRWEB) April 14, 2015 -- Orckestra’s award-winning enterprise commerce platform Overture is the foundation of next-generation grocery, powering Sobeys’ new comprehensive omnichannel capabilities to drive seamless customer experiences across all stores, channels and digital touchpoints, and improve back-end operations to ensure orders are fulfilled accurately and on time. The national grocery giant has launched their new online grocery experience in 247 of their 285 IGA stores across Quebec in April.
“We are very proud to work with the Sobeys team in launching one of the most advanced online grocery offerings in North America,” stated Louis Fournier, President and CEO of Orckestra. “Online grocery is a unique and complicated model with fundamental challenges including streamlining product data for localized in-store and online availability; order fulfillment logistics for pick-up and delivery options; and even the sheer number of products in an average order. That’s why we built Overture as a Commerce OrchestrationTM platform, for complex models like grocery that need a more powerful and flexible solution than traditional e-commerce platforms on the market,” Fournier concluded.
Both companies have collaborated closely since 2008 evolving Sobeys’ e-commerce as the company expanded, acquiring top Canadian banners like Safeway in 2013 and growing to 1,500 stores nationwide. It is this multi-banner, multi-regional and multi-language commerce model that called for streamlining their fragmented systems on a single platform, with the flexibility to easily extend and scale with demand. As part of the transformation, Sobeys chose to leverage the power and efficiencies of Overture on the Microsoft Azure cloud, significantly speeding up time to market and enabling them to tackle peak demands.
“This is by far the most advanced online shopping experience for our customers, reflecting our commitment to quality and service and meeting consumer demands,” explained Alain Dumas, Senior Director, Public Affairs and Digital Strategy at Sobeys. “In addition to all the smart and engaging content on our modernized site, our new omnichannel capabilities allow us to engage with customers in-store, on their mobile, at home and at work, and best of all regardless of where they are we can serve them more personally and consistently.”
It is Orckestra’s Overture Commerce OrchestrationTM platform that drives this true omnichannel, seamless experience. All customer, product, order and marketing data is unified in a single platform, integrated with Sobeys’ other key systems including SAP ERP, NCR POS, Sitecore CMS and Planogram software. To manage order picking operations, Sobeys implemented Overture’s Pick and Pack mobile solution that essentially eliminates the risk of human error of traditional manual processes, drastically improving accuracy, timely fulfillment, and ultimately customer satisfaction.
Mathieu Lacoursière, Head of Operational Excellence at Sobeys confirms, “Orckestra’s Pick and Pack solution is highly intuitive, and the learning curve from a manual process to a digital one was relatively simple for our pickers. At the end of the day, it’s our customers who are benefiting.”
