Los Angeles to Host High-Level Foreign Investors
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) March 19, 2015 -- The Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation (LAEDC) today announced that Los Angeles will host more than two hundred high-level business leaders from China, Japan, Korea, Mexico and other regions including Hong Kong and Taiwan at the Welcome to L.A.: Gateway to the USA conference, an all-day event Friday, March 20, which will showcase the Greater Los Angeles region as the ideal place to invest for companies seeking high return on investment in the United States.
The invitation-only Welcome to L.A. conference will be held two days prior to the second Select USA Summit in Washington, D.C., which starts Sunday, March 22. The global contingent of investors and business leaders at Welcome to L.A. will travel to Washington following the conference, where they will join more investors from around the world to explore the benefits of investing in the United States.
Conceived by City of Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, the Welcome to L.A. conference is organized by the LAEDC and the Office of the Mayor of the City of Los Angeles with the goal of creating jobs in our region by attracting Foreign Direct Investment.
Along with the high-level business leaders from Asia and Mexico, a large number of the foreign consuls general based in Los Angeles and officials from both the U.S. State Department and the foreign ministries of the countries involved will participate in the event to be held at the J.W. Marriott Hotel at L.A. Live.
Featured speakers include U.S. Assistant Commerce Secretary for Global Markets Arun Kumar, Mayor Michael D. Antonovich, Chairman of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors who will welcome the delegates in the morning, and City of Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti who will deliver the luncheon keynote address.
“In our ongoing efforts to generate new, high-paying jobs for Los Angeles, it is important that we showcase the best our region has to offer to those interested in making significant investments in the United States,” said City of Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti. “With this event, we plan to make the visiting foreign investors aware of how the business, educational and cultural resources of the L.A. region can help them grow their businesses successfully in the U.S. and throughout the Western Hemisphere.”
The conference sessions will focus on the opportunities and resources available in Los Angeles County to international investors. Session topics will range from perspectives of CEOs on investing and operating in the Los Angeles area to L.A.’s leadership in cutting-edge entertainment, technology, manufacturing and real estate industry sectors.
