Perception Neuron Immersive Motion Capture Technology Announces Product Delivery Updates on the Heels of GDC 2015
San Francisco, California (PRWEB) March 23, 2015 -- Noitom Ltd., the company that introduced the world to Perception Neuron, the world’s smallest, most versatile, adaptable and affordable motion capture system, was at the Game Developers Conference, GDC 2015, from March 4-6 where they launched their immersive technology tool and invited attendees and media to one-on-one demo sessions at their booth throughout the week.
On the eve of the world's biggest game industry event, held this year in San Francisco, the Perception Neuron team hosted a special invitation-only party at Impact Hub San Francisco and the crowd who arrived were treated to the first peek of the revolutionary motion capture system that raised over half a million dollars on Kickstarter.
Following a video message from Noitom’s Co-founder and CTO, Dr. Tristan Dai, Perception Neuron was finally revealed to the anticipating audience. Wearing the full-body mocap suit, a professional dancer came onto the stage and gave a live performance while her avatar — controlled by the system’s sensors (Neurons) — danced on a projected screen in real-time, duplicating her every move. Afterwards, captivated attendees were invited to ask questions to company representatives and take a closer look.
The next day marked the official opening of the GDC expo floor and the Perception Neuron booth was opened with live demo stations that included full-body, hand and flying demos. Over the next 3 days, the booth was inundated with attendees who were treated to a variety of virtual reality experiences with the system.
“We had an incredible turnout at GDC this year. Not surprisingly, lots people including many from across the industry, clearly couldn’t wait to get into the booth and try the system out for themselves,” says Roch Nakajima, Americas/Europe Marketing Director for Noitom. “This gave us our first real world feedback from future buyers, and we are very satisfied with the results. Overall, we’re ecstatic about the system’s performance, but we did identify some small functional issues we want to make sure are corrected prior to shipment.”
The team will be pushing back the beginning of shipments while they resolve some minor weak points with the strap, connector and socket systems.
“It is extremely important to us that we deliver an excellent product, both from the technical and functional aspect," says Dai. “This is a completely new class of product, something we are pioneering and we would rather delay it by a few weeks than rush to send something that isn’t 100% ready, regardless of how minor some of the issues are. We’re almost at the finish line and we’re just as excited as everyone else about getting the product out there.”
Estimated shipping for Perception Neuron will begin in May 2015. Orders will be fulfilled beginning with Kickstarter early pledges. Pre-orders have also begun online at neuronmocap.com.
