“Portfolio Checkup” creates a national referral service for independent RIAs

Portfolio Checkup guides investors to a quality fiduciary advisor from a national network of independent advisors that will help the investor implement an appropriate investment strategy

Stonghold Financial, an independent registered investment advisor and Jemstep, a leading advisor-focused “Robo” technology platform provider announced today the availability of a national lead generation and referral service for independent RIAs.

The service, called Portfolio Checkup (, provides investors with a free portfolio analysis, including how their current allocation compares to other advisor portfolios and how much they are actually paying in fund fees versus what they might be paying with lower cost funds. Portfolio Checkup then guides the investor to a quality fiduciary advisor from a national network of independent advisors that will help the investor implement an appropriate investment strategy. Advisors on the network are pre-approved by Stronghold and must comply with its Bill of Rights.

“Portfolio Checkup promotes the concept of a fiduciary,” said Ajay Gupta, Founder of Stronghold Financial and respected CEO of high net worth firm, Gupta Wealth Management. “We know that fee-only advisors put the interests of clients first and by using Portfolio Checkup investors can be directed to an appropriate fiduciary advisor with an offering tailored to that investor’s needs.”

Portfolio Checkup directs investors to participating advisors based on asset levels, location and other parameters aimed at matching the investor with a suitable fiduciary. As more advisors are added to the platform, Portfolio Checkup’s lead distribution functionality will become even more effective.

The genesis for the lead referral network came after Stronghold Financial was mentioned in the new book by Tony Robbins, Money: Master the Game. “The traffic to our website was phenomenal,” explains Gupta. “With such strong demand, we felt that we could better serve investors by giving them access to independent fiduciaries across the USA - right down to a fiduciary in their own neighborhood if that’s what they would prefer.”

Jemstep was selected as the technology provider behind the new service. “Portfolio Checkup leverages our successful Jemstep Advisor Pro platform to guide prospects to an appropriate adviser”, said Simon Roy, President of Jemstep. “With a robust lead flow through Portfolio Checkup, we have an opportunity to guide thousands of new clients to quality fiduciary advisors and make it easy for them to sign up with the firms using our embedded electronic onboarding technology. We’re excited to be part of this innovative offering and being instrumental in driving growth for independent advisors.”

Early results are encouraging. In the three months leading up to the official launch of Portfolio Checkup, over 500 new, discretionary managed accounts were opened through Stronghold, with an average account size of $70,000. A number of new households are in excess of $1 million in assets, emphasizing that the appeal of Jemstep’s online advice platform goes well beyond the millennial generation.

Jemstep continues to innovate with the recent launch of Jemstep Advisor Pro, an advisor-focused Robo technology platform designed to integrate with advisors’ current back-office systems and investment process. Jemstep Advisor Pro can be fully integrated into advisors’ CRM and portfolio management systems, enabling advisors to have choice and flexibility with their portfolio models and security selection.

Through Jemstep Advisor Pro, advisors can deploy a powerful offering to engage prospects online, cultivate those relationships through a rich digital experience, and enable them to open accounts in a paperless, full-ACATS and self-service process.

This end-to-end Robo technology platform frees advisors to spend more time with their high net worth clients, while providing them with a scalable foundation to onboard next generation investors as well as have a segmented offering that is integrated into their practice and does not have to be a stand-alone, separately branded endeavor.

“With very little outreach, we are seeing significant interest in our platform,” said Roy. “We have been extremely pleased with the industry’s reception of our advisor focused, Robo technology and look forward to contributing to the overall growth of the independent RIA industry.”
