This is the latest in a string of acquisitions that extends GWP's integrated home pharmacy services for rural markets into the Pacific Northwest.
Vancouver, Washington (PRWEB) March 19, 2015
Geneva Woods Pharmacy, Inc. (GWP), a leading provider of integrated home and specialty pharmacy services in under-served rural markets, has announced the acquisition of Vancover, WA-based CHS Pharmacy and Kirk’s Drugs, leading providers of Long Term Care Pharmacy, Home Medical Equipment and supplies, complex rehabilitation and respiratory services in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Colorado, Nevada and soon in Arkansas.
With this acquisition, GWP is now positioned to expand its integrated pharmacy services model (Homecare pharmacy, LTC, Compounding, Specialty and DME), throughout the Pacific Northwestern US. This is the latest in a string of acquisitions that has seen GWP expand from Alaska to Wyoming, allowing new specialized services to be provided to areas that have traditionally lacked such access.
Dan Afrasiabi, President of GWP commented: “CHS and Kirk’s embody the values that we promote within our company every day: A passion for our clients, a sense of urgency in meeting our client needs, and a patient-centric approach to help keep clients healthy in home-like settings. We look forward to bringing new resources and services to help our clients provide better care, and to contribute to a more efficient and outcome-oriented approach to healthcare in smaller markets.”
James Waletich, CHS’ founder and CEO added, “when we started CHS over 13 years ago, our vision was to bring a level of care and service that was previously lacking for patients, facilities and referral sources in many of these communities. With the significant changes in the industry, especially related to reimbursement complications, compliance requirements and the need for heavy capital expenditure, we believe the time is right to join forces with a company that can bring the necessary resources to the table. I am proud to partner with GWP to continue to hold ourselves to the highest possible standards of care, while increasing the breadth of services that we can offer our clients.”
With this acquisition, GWP will establish a “lower 48” headquarters in Vancouver, Washington which will be used to support local locations in surrounding states. It is expected that over the next 24 months, GWP will at least double its workforce in the Vancouver area.
