Burg Simpson’s Diane Vaksdal Smith To Serve As Judge At CBA High School Mock Trial Competition
Denver, Colorado (PRWEB) March 18, 2015 -- Burg Simpson Eldredge Hersh & Jardine, P.C. is pleased to support the Colorado High School Mock Trial Tournament. For the nineteenth consecutive year, shareholder Diane Vaksdal Smith will be volunteering her time to act as a presiding judge at the tournament finals, which takes place March 20 - 21 at the El Paso Judicial Building in Colorado Springs.
Each year more than 100 high school teams participates in Colorado’s mock trial program, and teams are composed of 6–12 students who perform a case for the Prosecution/Plaintiff and/or the Defense in either a civil or criminal-type trial.
Diane Vaksdal Smith, a former Magistrate Judge for Colorado’s Seventeenth Judicial District and a respected civil attorney, said, “I am thrilled to participate again this year. This is my nineteenth year working with this competition, and every year I am more impressed with the work and dedication of the students and their coaches. This competition provides students a wonderful opportunity to learn about the importance of our civil and criminal justice system as well as memories of standing in the well and arguing for their client. They also develop their written and oral communication skills, an advantage they will have for a lifetime. I cannot stress enough the benefits and rewards of this competition."
