Cambridge, MA (PRWEB) March 19, 2015 -- Open Style Lab, sponsored by MIT, acquires TUKAcad by Tukatech for their pattern making needs. Open Style Lab is an organization helping to make style accessible to people of all abilities. They bring design, engineering and rehabilitation medicine students, and clients with disabilities together to explore a diverse array of clothing challenges and fabricate solutions for them.
“Tukatech is proud to be a part of Open Style Lab in their noble initiative. TUKAcad enables them to improve their product development, allowing them to quickly create beautiful and functional clothing, ultimately helping more people,” said Ram Sareen, CEO, Tukatech.
With TUKAcad, the Open Style Lab team developed Rayn Jacket which will be available for purchase in April. “Tukatech has enabled us to continue developing an idea that originated from our inaugural educational program in June 2014 - a rain jacket for anyone who will be sitting outside, including wheelchair users, sports spectators and bikers. We are very grateful for their contribution and partnership, which facilitated our ability to create an innovative clothing solution that will make the vast apparel landscape a bit more inclusive and beautiful," remarked Alice Tin, Co-Founder & Director, Open Style Lab.

“We are proud to announce our first retail product: Rayn Jacket, an ergonomic, waterproof jacket that is inspired by wheelchair users, and designed for people of all abilities. Everyone from wheelchair users, cyclists, sports spectators, commuters and campers can now sit in the rain comfortably - no umbrella, no poncho, no extra material, but complete coverage.
Open Style Lab is collaborating with Betabrand, an online clothing community based in San Francisco, to offer Rayn Jacket to the public.
We're excited to share that Rayn Jacket, which is currently featured on Betabrand's crowdsourcing design platform, Think Tank, passed the initial voting stage in 48 hours!! It's going to be a real thing! A huge thank you to everyone who voted and made this happen."
