Houston Companies and Business Leaders take the Fit Company Challenge
Houston, Texas (PRWEB) March 23, 2015 -- On February 21, 2015 over 500 business leaders and companies in Houston took part in the Fit Company Challenge, a corporate fitness event hosted by the Fit Company Institute providing area companies and business leaders an opportunity to show the importance of living a fit and healthy lifestyle. Participants ranged in age from professionals in their early 20’s to executives in their 60’s and ranged in fitness level from beginners who had never worked out before, to advanced participants who exercise on a regular basis. Participants worked to complete a variety of fitness stations tailored to their fitness level to earn points for their company to win the coveted Fittest Company award. Advanced level participants also competed for the Fittest Executive, Fittest Entrepreneur, Fittest Lawyer, Fittest Doctor, and Fittest Professional awards.
At the 2nd Annual event in Houston, companies came out in full force to show Houston they live fit with Houston Methodist taking 1st place in the Overall Fittest Company Category. “The Fit Company Challenge was a great experience,” Said Jennifer Borders, Wellness Director at Houston Methodist. “Houston Methodist prides itself on creating opportunities for our employees to get active and embrace a healthy lifestyle. We had an overwhelming participation and came home with some key wins. We are looking forward to next year!”
David Weekley Homes first entered in the 2014 Austin challenge, and after finishing as the top company, they looked to give employees in other cities the chance to demonstrate the company’s commitment to health and fitness. “At David Weekley Homes, we make fitness and health a priority because it helps in every aspect of our Team Members’ lives – both personal and professional,” Said Jackie Hanson, HR & Benefits Administrator and Captain of the Houston Team. “To be able to participate in the Fit Company Challenge was a great opportunity for us to live out our continued commitment to Wellness while working together as a team to accomplish our goals!”
On event day, with the help of over 70 volunteers assisting the contenders, participants challenged their strength, conditioning, power, agility, and ended with a test of endurance in order to show their companies and colleagues that they practice what they preach. Participants used their involvement to bring out company team members, and family members to cheer them on and even run with them during the endurance course in the challenge.
The challenge was held at the Houston Dynamo Sports Park, just a few minutes from downtown Houston.
