GuardRFID to demonstrate integration of Location Services at HIMMS 2015 after successfully completing Connectathon interoperability testing using the MEMLS profile
Vancouver, BC (PRWEB) March 20, 2015 -- Guard RFID Solutions Inc., an industry leader in active RFID/RTLS technology successfully completed interoperability testing of its Argus AllGuard RTLS system at the North America Connectathon in Cleveland, OH in January 2015. Testing of the IHE PCD MEMLS profile, used to provide location of equipment and people, utilizing the ubiquitous HL-7 communication protocol, was carried out in association with Smith’s Medical, B. Braun Medical and EQ2 to verify interoperability.
The Connectathon testing proved the ease of integration of Real-time Location Systems utilizing the MEMLS profile with third party systems, and thus provided the foundation for a large scale demonstration in the Interoperability Showcase at HIMSS 2015, between April 12–16 in Chicago, IL. The entire Showcase area, which is approximately 35,000 square feet, will be equipped with GuardRFID’s RTLS system, and Rreal-time location of other exhibitors’ equipment, personnel and patient actors will be shown not only within GuardRFID’s AllGuard application, but also within the software applications of three independent medical equipment manufacturers and one Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
“We view the MEMLS protocol as one of the most significant developments in the healthcare RTLS industry within the last few years. It enables sharing of location and security information between Location Service providers, such as GuardRFID, and third party healthcare systems, utilizing the HL-7 protocol widely used within healthcare IT, thus dramatically reducing integration complexity and cost,” said Dalibor Pokrajac, GuardRFID’s EVP of Engineering. “The demonstration within the HIMSS 2015 Interoperability Showcase will demonstrate how the MEMLS protocol allows utilization of a RTLS network as a ubiquitous service, delivering RFID/RTLS data directly to all other healthcare systems that could benefit from access to such information, such as those for patient health monitoring or EMR systems.”
Due to their ease of use, reliability and robustness, GuardRFID’s suite of applications have been selected as the systems of choice by many high profile healthcare facilities. The suite currently consists of its AllGuard Asset Tracking and Security system, TotGuard Infant and Pediatric Security system, SafeGuard Staff Duress system, and AllGuard Wandering Patient Protection system.
