The Cliffs Golf Courses in Western South Carolina Make Top 100 List
Greenville, South Carolina (PRWEB) March 20, 2015 -- This week The Cliffs at Mountain Park was honored with its most impressive accolade to date, making the cut into Golfweek’s coveted Best 100 Modern Courses in America, 2015. Golfweek’s team of raters, many of whom played the course in the fall of 2014, placed the Gary Player Signature designed private course at No. 100 in the list the magazine released today. This is the first time any of The Cliffs’ seven championship golf courses have broken through the Top 100 – the very best golf courses in America, no matter private or public, opened since 1960. Golfweek also recognized The Cliffs at Mountain Park as No. 43 and The Cliffs at Keowee Vineyards No. 56 among the Top 100 Residential Courses of 2015.

The Cliffs hosted senior staff and raters of Golfweek in late 2014 for several days. Their itinerary included playing three of The Cliffs’ seven courses: The Cliffs at Mountain Park (Gary Player Signature design), The Cliffs at Keowee Vineyards (Tom Fazio design), and The Cliffs at Walnut Cove (Jack Nicklaus Signature design).
Henry Robinson of Golfweek commented on his experience by saying, “One: the courses [were] exceptionally in good shape. The greens [were] the best I’ve ever seen. The second thing is, the hospitality at The Cliffs is second to none. It was one of the best rater events we’ve ever had.”
Senior Writer and Course Architecture Editor for Golfweek Brad Klein, noted, “To go, for example, from [The Cliffs at Keowee] Vineyards to [The Cliffs at] Mountain Park, and then up to [The Cliffs at] Walnut Cove, it’s an amazing variety.”

The Cliffs at Mountain Park is an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Gary Player. Opened in 2013, it is The Cliffs’ newest of seven courses and is set along the banks of the North Saluda River, accentuating the ridgelines of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Both GOLF Magazine and Golf Digest recognized The Cliffs at Mountain Park as a Best New Private Course upon its debut.
The Cliffs at Keowee Vineyards is one of The Cliffs’ three lakeside courses. Designed by Tom Fazio and named No. 7 among Best Private Courses by Golf Digest, it features eight holes directly on Lake Keowee and stunning mountain views.
The Cliffs at Walnut Cove, one of two Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Courses at The Cliffs, plays through the rolling fields and woodland vegetation just outside Asheville, North Carolina. Upon its opening in 2005, it was recognized by the PGA Tour as the only championship golf course to debut in tournament-ready condition.
