Gala to honor Maestro Alexander Treger, Zarin Mehta on behalf of the Mehta family, and NBC Universal’s Mike Knobloch. The gala will be hosted by Simone Porter with auctioneer Tommy Lasorda!

The American Youth Symphony will commemorate 50 years of extraordinary music with a free Concert and fundraising Gala on April 26th at UCLA’s Royce Hall.

After seventeen transformative years with AYS, Maestro Alexander Treger will be stepping down as the Music Director, and the 6pm Gala Concert will serve as his triumphant final performance with AYS. The program opens with Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante, featuring guest soloists Glenn Dicterow, 34-year veteran Concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic, and acclaimed violist Karen Dreyfus. The concert will conclude with Tchaikovsky’s magnificent Symphony No. 6, chosen by Maestro Treger to commemorate this momentous occasion.

8pm - Gala Dinner

Musicians and music lovers gather under the stars in celebration of shared passions, for a magical evening to support the future of the American Youth Symphony!

As we celebrate the legacy of AYS, we honor Maestro Alexander Treger, Zarin Mehta (son of AYS founder Mehli Mehta) on behalf of the Mehta family, and NBC Universal’s Mike Knobloch.

The gala will be hosted by rising star Simone Porter – a 2015 Avery Fisher Career Grant Winner and recent AYS alumna – and feature auctioneer Tommy Lasorda of the LA Dodgers!
