New York City Celebrates Project Sunshine Month in April
New York, New York (PRWEB) March 23, 2015 -- Project Sunshine, a New York City-based charity, celebrates “Project Sunshine Month” in April by raising awareness and support for the organization through a series of events and programs. Project Sunshine also recognizes its volunteers during Project Sunshine Week, April 21 through April 28, 2015, an annual week of service that will culminate with Project Sunshine’s 12th Annual Benefit Celebration to be held on Tuesday, April 28th at the Waldorf Astoria.
“Throughout the month of April, we recognize the thousands of compassionate individuals who are truly the heart of the organization and make our programs possible,” said Beatrice Kernan, Executive Director, Project Sunshine. “It is a time for Project Sunshine to say thank you to our volunteers, sponsors and community members who bring sunshine into the lives of children facing medical challenges.”
For more than a decade, Project Sunshine has been bringing its own form of light to the city that never sleeps. During this special month, both national and local businesses will band together to raise funds and awareness for the organization. New York City will show its support for Project Sunshine with proclamations from New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio declaring April 21– April 28, 2015 as Project Sunshine Week.
On Tuesday, April 28th, Project Sunshine will host its 12th Annual Benefit Celebration, “Heart of Gold,” at the Waldorf Astoria. At the event, model Damaris Lewis will receive the “Project Sunshine Ambassador Award.” Cat Greenleaf of WNBC-TV will be an emcee for the evening, which will celebrate the volunteers, young patients and families of Project Sunshine. The night will also include celebrity appearances on the Project Sunshine “Yellow Carpet,” including Sports Illustrated models, Miss Universe, Miss USA, Miss Teen USA and sports celebrities.
In support of Project Sunshine Month, Helen Ficalora designed a 14k gold Sunshine Charm, with 25% of proceeds going to the organization during Project Sunshine Month and throughout the year.
