PrestaShop Integrates Olark Live Chat into Open Source Software to Help Merchants Connect with Customers

PrestaShop, an industry leader in open source solutions for ecommerce powering over 200 000 stores, partners with Olark, a San Francisco-based live chat provider with more than 10,000 paying customers, to help online merchants connect with their customers through live chat capabilities.

With a fully integrated module, online merchants can start connecting with their customers through live chat in just a few clicks. After the module is installed, the chat box appearance can be customized to complement the website’s branding. Located on the bottom right-hand corner of their screen, visitors can reach a merchant within seconds by clicking on the “Chat Now” button. For more extensive help, Olark also provides a co-browsing feature that lets merchants, with the customer's consent, view the webpage a customer is currently on.

Once a customer initiates a chat with a merchant, Olark archives the conversation transcript for future reference by the merchant. When a chat is finished, Olark prompts visitors for feedback on their experience. This feedback populates Olark's Chat Ratings, which show merchants how each sales associate is performing. Chat Ratings also show merchants when chats are busiest on their site segmented by day of the week, and hour of the day, so they can staff accordingly. Olark also provides merchants with customer information such as location (based on IP address), pages viewed and whether or not they are a returning customer.
