Herb-Crusted Beef Tenderloin

What a great evening – that you could coax this amazing meal from this lot!

Lajollacooks4u opened its kitchen to an international sales team from one of the world’s leading technology corporations, for an evening of delicious and exciting competition. Sales members from Europe, Asia, and the Americas gathered in Lajollacooks4u’s spacious kitchen, where founder, Chef Jodi, helped facilitate the event for participants to collaborate and earn the title of “Top Chef”.

The company’s Director of Global Sales reached out to Chef Jodi in search of a competitive and exciting team-building event. Lajollacooks4u was proud to be selected as host to such a paramount company and its unique group of multinational sales people.

The competition began in Chef Jodi’s personal garden where the 20 team members each received a custom-made apron and participated in an olive oil and salt tasting experience. The two teams, World and US, then moved into Chef Jodi’s kitchen where they sipped wine and worked together to create their evening’s five-course meal. The team bonded as they prepared their different gourmet recipes, each consisting of intricate and specialized Californian cuisine. Everybody was engaged and actively participating as they crafted the evening’s eclectic dishes.

After the teams completed and staged their dishes, they were invited to Chef Jodi’s dining room to enjoy each other’s creations, along with wines that had been carefully paired for the meal. The teams began with a selection of Focaccia with Burrata and Roasted Tomato Sauce. Next up for the tasting was a Roasted Beet Salad with Goat Cheese and Almonds. The entrées consisted of a delicious Herb-Crusted Beef Tenderloin with Tomato Chutney, Blackened Salmon with Chimichurri Sauce and a Quinoa Vegetable Pilaf. Rounding off the meal was a decadent Chocolate Melting Cake with Fresh Raspberries.

The teams judged each other based on collaboration, taste, and presentation, as well as Top Chef, runner-up, and even most comedic chef. The Top Chef award went to a participant from the United Kingdom who created a masterful tomato chutney. A fellow team member expressed that ‘[his] chutney was to die for’.

A participant from Bulgaria claimed it was one of the most unique and exciting team-building events she had ever participated in, and praised Lajollacooks4u on its delicious food and elegant atmosphere. One of her fellow team member’s added, “What a great evening – that you could coax this amazing meal from this lot!” It seemed everyone was pleasantly surprised at Chef Jodi’s ability to turn amateurs into five-star chefs, all within a few short hours.

The international sales team unanimously agreed that its Lajollacooks4u event was one of its best events to date. The director and event coordinator said that the event really exceeded expectations, and everyone had a great time. “I will recommend your event to other colleagues; thank you for all the attention to detail, your energy, and fun spirit,” he added.
