Recycling Workshop Offered for Florida Small Businesses by SWIX

Learn from the experts about starting, improving or financing business recycling.

The Southern Waste Information eXchange (SWIX) is pleased to announce that on Thursday, April 23rd, it will hold a one-day educational recycling workshop for small businesses. This workshop is being produced in partnership with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), Publix, Harvest Power, Rooms to Go, Kessler Consulting, Inc., Florida First Capital Finance Corporation and Recycle Florida Today, Inc. Workshop participants will learn how to start or improve a workplace recycling program and what resources are available in Florida to help them succeed. The workshop will take place from 9:00 am to 3:45 pm at the Second Harvest Food Bank Meeting Facility, located at 411 Mercy Drive in Orlando, FL.

Gene Jones, Executive Director of SWIX, has served private industry and government by finding solutions to reduce waste output and costs for the past 35 years. “Organizations save and make money by employing better waste management techniques and increasing recycling rates,” explains Jones. “Benefits of business recycling include reducing costs associated with waste disposal, finding markets (getting paid) for waste materials and spending less on purchasing materials.”

The upcoming workshop will include the following topics:

  •     Developing and Adopting Sustainable Business Practices
  •     What Financial Help is There for Recycling in Florida
  •     How Local Governments in Florida are Stimulating More Business Recycling
  •     Business Recycling Panel
