Learning.com Platform Earns IMS Global Learning Consortium Certification
Portland, Ore. (PRWEB) March 26, 2015 -- Increasingly digital and connected learning environments require school districts to implement systems that easily work together. The Learning.com Platform is now certified by the IMS Global Learning Consortium (IMS Global) for Thin Common Cartridge™ v1.3 as an export tool. Learning.com utilizes this capability to enhance the functionality of Curriculum Foundry. Once districts have created their own curriculum using Curriculum Foundry, they can now export content via Thin Common Cartridge to learning management systems that support Thin Common Cartridge imports.
“IMS Global’s certification of our Thin Common Cartridge feature represents the ideal of interoperability and integration among education solutions, which is essential to the future of educational software,” said Learning.com CEO Keith Oelrich. “Learning.com’s use of Thin Common Cartridge in Curriculum Foundry gives school leaders the freedom to distribute content not only through the Learning.com Platform but other learning management systems.”
According to IMS Global, Common Cartridge is the first of three major standards that comprise a new generation of Digital Learning Services standards to support a new generation of learning technology.
"IMS is very pleased that Learning.com is one of the first platform providers to have achieved conformance certification for the recently released Thin Common Cartridge v1.3 standard,” said Dr. Rob Abel, Chief Executive Officer of IMS Global. “By supporting Thin Common Cartridge, Learning.com is helping to accelerate the evolution to digital curriculum by reducing the complexity to integrate digital content from a wide variety of resources to support personalized learning, while saving the districts money and time."
Curriculum Foundry provides districts with tools to build and share custom digital curriculum with a searchable repository of vetted open education resources (OER) and other free digital resources covering core K-12 subjects. Curriculum Foundry also features single sign-on, enabling students and teachers to easily access digital content in their repository. Learning.com provides comprehensive professional development and implementation resources to ensure districts can effectively deploy Curriculum Foundry in all of their schools and classrooms.
