National Grid Interactive Web Training Wins 'Best in Class'
Waltham, Mass. (PRWEB) March 24, 2015 -- National Grid’s First Responder Utility Safety Training website (http://firstresponder.ngridsafety.com) has won the “Best in Class Award” in the utilities category of the 2014 Interactive Media Awards (IMA) competition. “Best in Class” is the highest honor bestowed in this competition.
The honor recognizes the highest standards of excellence in website design, based on content, feature functionality, usability and standards compliance. In order to win this award level, the site had to meet strict guidelines in each area, an achievement earned by only three other sites in the 2014 IMA competition.
National Grid’s First Responder Utility Safety Training website is a self-paced, modular e-learning program to train emergency first responders so they can respond safely and effectively to incidents involving natural gas and electricity.
“I am proud of the relationships we have with first responders throughout the Northeast and we were able to leverage them to build this innovative training website. Equipping first responders with information on the hazards and risks present in emergencies where gas or electric utility lines are involved helps keep them and the communities they serve safe,” says Marie Jordan, senior vice president, U.S. Gas Operations.
National Grid partnered with Culver Company to develop the site. Culver Company is the industry expert in public safety, energy efficiency and water conservation outreach initiatives for utility companies.
The IMA competition is sponsored by the Interactive Media Council, Inc., a nonprofit organization of leading web designers, developers, programmers, advertisers and other web-related professionals, to elevate the standards of excellence on the Internet. 2014 Best in Class honors in the Utilities category were announced earlier this month.
