Novogradac & Company LLP to Host Affordable Housing Tax Credit Conference in San Francisco
SAN FRANCISCO (PRWEB) March 24, 2015 -- The affordable housing community faces a variety of potential changes, including a proposal to create a permanent floor for the low-income housing tax credit (LIHTC). If enacted, H.R. 1142 would establish a minimum 9 percent LIHTC rate for new rental construction property and rehabilitation costs. It would also create a minimum 4 percent LIHTC rate for acquisitions. Affordable housing advocates have long called for a permanent LIHTC minimum rate, as well as other legislative and regulatory changes that could improve and expand the stock of affordable housing in the United States.
These will be among the hot topics discussed at the Novogradac Affordable Housing Conference in San Francisco, May 7-8. Expert panelists will examine some of the most critical issues facing the LIHTC program and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) affordable housing programs. The two-day conference will feature panels of developers, investors, lenders, attorneys, accountants and other industry professionals who will discuss the latest industry news and issues, such as debt and equity trends for 2015, maximizing the 4 percent LIHTC and evaluating the market for property dispositions before and after Year 15. California State Controller Betty Yee is the scheduled keynote speaker.
“The potential for major tax reform is on the horizon, bringing with it a host of challenges and exciting opportunities for the affordable housing industry,” said Molly O’Dell, CPA, conference chairwoman and partner in Novogradac & Company LLP’s San Francisco office. “The Novogradac Affordable Housing Conference will deliver the insights attendees will need to make informed decisions and stay ahead of the curve.”
Attendees can network with hundreds of affordable housing professionals, including active tax equity investors, project developers, lenders and many other industry professionals and participants during the numerous networking breaks; and a cocktail reception from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 7.
Additionally, two pre-conference workshops, LIHTC 101: The Basics and LIHTC 202: Year 15 Overview, will be held Wednesday, May 6. Pre-conference workshop registration is separate and optional. Additional fees apply.
