Sullivan Re-Appointed Lead Group Overseeing Technical and Engineering Development of the Internet

It’s a critical but exciting time for the Internet, and to be chosen by my esteemed peers as their chair is extremely flattering.

Dyn, the worldwide leader in Internet Performance, announced today that Andrew Sullivan, Fellow at Dyn, was named the chair of the Internet Architecture Board (IAB). Sullivan had recently been re-appointed to a second two-year term on the committee.

The Internet Architecture Board is a committee of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). As the chair of the IAB, Andrew will lead a group that is charged with oversight of the technical and engineering development of the Internet including aspects of the architecture for the protocols and procedures used by the Internet, and oversight of the process used to create Internet Standards. Recent topics considered by the IAB have been the future of Internet addressing and network management. More on what the IAB does can be found here.

“I am honored to be named chair of the IAB,” Sullivan said. “It’s a critical but exciting time for the Internet, and to be chosen by my esteemed peers as their chair is extremely flattering.”

Sullivan has worked at Dyn since 2012. Before being named a Fellow, he was Dyn’s Director of Architecture. Sullivan has long been a leading voice in the DNS (Domain Name System) and Internet community and has previously co-chaired various working groups within the IETF.

Dyn’s thought leaders have previously held and currently hold various roles within Internet organizations, including the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the North American Network Operators Group (NANOG), and the Messaging Anti-Abuse Working Group (MAAWG).

“We are fortunate to have some of the brightest minds on the Internet working at Dyn,” said Kyle York, Dyn Chief Marketing Officer. “What is even better is that these aren’t people who want to sit on the sidelines. They are actively involved in the discussions that will help shape the future Internet. We’re very proud of Andrew and congratulate him.”

The IAB’s official announcement can be found here.
